Scuba Equipment

The evolution of scuba gear has allowed for divers to reach previously unattainable depths for scientific research and commercial reasons. Most recreational scuba gear is not designed to hold up to the extreme pressures below 400ft. Even the most experienced divers start to lose consciousness at this depth without being inside a pressurized vessel. Submarines and even more specialized bathyspheres for extreme depths are used for deep sea exploration.

Ninety percent of aquatic life is concentrated on the top 10% of the ocean, making scuba equipment an excellent tool for discovery and recreation. Most discoveries are not taking place on the bottom of the ocean, very little is still known about how underwater ecosystems work
.
The availability of scuba equipment, especially underwater cameras, has allowed more scientists to view natural habitats and make observations. It is easier than ever to acquire a tank, fins, suit and instruction allowing the mysteries of the deep unfold to those who desire to explore them. There are useful tools for medicine, science and entertainment underwater.
